Equal Rights Amendement
After the end of the Women's Suffrage moment with the passage of the 19th amendment groups such as the National Organization for Women and, the National Women's Political Caucus worked to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment in hopes that it would ensure that men and women are treated as equals under the democratic law. Women believe that they should earn equal pay across all jobs especially if they were equally qualified. The Equal Rights amendment was first bought to Congress in 1923. It has been ratified by 35 out of 38 states. This proposal has already opened doors for numerous women in different industries of employment.
By August 2012, Oprah Winfrey was named the highest paid celebrity by Forbes Magazine._ Out of the top 20 on this list there was only one other woman. This is not a major step but it is a change in the tide for women. In 2003 Academy Award winning actress Julia Robert made a record pay day for women in film. She collected $25 million dollars for Mona Lisa.

Although women are making strides in the entertainment industry research shows that women are not receiving the same diligence in other fields of industry especially education. Education has traditionally been a female dominated career, but late in the 20th century the education field saw a rise in male dominance especially at the secondary level.
